Update!

Sorry we haven't posted on our Blog since January.... you'll read why!

We have been very very busy! We had final exams at the end of April to finish off the school year and then two weeks later we headed to Salt Lake City, Utah to train with the FAST Team at the Olympic Oval training centre. It was a great 4 weeks with lots of ice time, cycling, speed skating dryland workouts and weights as well. We had a really great time and noticed big increases in our endurance and also learned a lot about how to improve our technique while skating.

After 4 weeks in SLC, we returned back home to spend a week with our family and then we hopped on a plane and arrived here in Heerenveen, Netherlands on June 18th. We are now training with the Dutch speed skating team and so far we have had a lot of really tough training sessions; both on and off the ice. The team is really nice and inclusive and they are even teaching us a couple words of Dutch! We are very excited to train our hardest ever for the rest of the summer and into this 2017/2018 season.

"Will you be in the 2018 Winter Olympics?" you may ask! Good question! So, our first World Cup competition is in Budapest, Hungary from Sept. 28th - Oct. 1st. Then we race a week later in Dordrecht, Netherlands at World Cup #2. We then have a few weeks of training and rest before we compete again in the last two World Cups of the season which are in Shanghai, China (Nov. 9-12th) and Seoul, Republic of Korea (Nov. 16-19th). If we can place top 32 across three of the four World Cups in a specific distance than we will qualify for the Olympics! That is our goal. We know we have the work ethic and determination to do it so we will continue to give it our all and prepare physically and mentally for this upcoming racing season. Thank you for following us on our journey and we will keep updating you guys along the way :)
